1. Run cold water over your toothbrush (which should have soft nylon bristles)

2. Squeeze a dab of fluoride toothpaste onto the bristles of your brush

3. Place the brush at a 45 degree angle against your teeth

4. Gentle sweep away from your gum line with short strokes moving up and down (pressing too hard can damage tooth enamel and gums)

5. Continue with this motion cleaning teeth in small sections (rinse your brush after you complete each section)

6. Clean the outer surfaces of your upper teeth first

7. Move to the lower teeth

8. Clean the inner surfaces of your upper teeth (use the bristles at the tip of the brush)

9. Move to the lower teeth once again

10. Brush the chewing surfaces of your teeth (pay extra attention to your gum line, back teeth, fillings & crowns)

11. Finish with the front teeth

12. When you have brushed all of your teeth, gentle brush your tongue and the insides of your teeth to remove bacteria and to freshen your breath.

13. Rinse your mouth with water

14. Admire your fresh and clean teeth in the mirror
