Future watch a new way to rebuild decayed teeth

At Dendy Village Dental we love hearing of emerging technologies that could be the future or dental care.
Researchers at the University of Washington are developing a product that uses proteins to rebuild tooth enamel and treat cavities. This could lead to a range of in-clinic and at-home products that start to rebuild teeth when applied to the tooth’s surface. Now that’s a powerful toothpaste!
The researchers managed to isolate the essence of “amelogenin,” a protein involved in making hard crown enamel, and then develop a Peptide that biomineralizes the structure found in native tooth enamel.
For now, good brushing and flossing is still the best way to keep your teeth in top condition. But in future perhaps we’ll see a new range of toothpastes and treatments that replace more invasive filling procedures and help us keep our teeth pristine.
Has it been a while since your teeth were professionally cleaned and given a check-up? Call the friendly team at Dendy Village Dental for great service. Phone 9592 0583 or book online.
